Job summary

VettedBench is seeking an ML/AI Systems Engineer for a 4-week remote contract. The role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI agent systems for exploratory mathematics research, enabling multi-step reasoning and tool integration.

You will collaborate with mathematical researchers to translate complex problems into modular software specifications, build reusable frameworks, and optimize agent performance. Strong Python and LLM orchestration skills are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and deploying production-grade, multi-step agentic AI systems.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or custom orchestration systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming.
• Strong experience with LLM orchestration, tool calling, structured outputs, and state management.
• Experience developing AI/ML applications in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Quantitative Finance.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to collaborate with researchers and translate complex technical concepts into modular software systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize multi-step agentic AI workflows for complex reasoning and problem-solving.
• Build AI agents capable of hypothesis generation, multi-hop reasoning, and technical validation.
• Collaborate with mathematical researchers to translate complex mathematical problems and proofs into structured technical specifications and automated workflows.
• Develop reusable frameworks, tools, and memory systems for STEM-focused AI agents.
• Integrate LLMs with external tools, APIs, Python functions, and other software components.
• Implement structured output generation and state management across agent workflows.
• Evaluate and optimize AI agent performance to ensure accuracy, reliability, and logical consistency.
• Troubleshoot and improve agent execution pipelines.

Job Type: Short-Term Contract (4 Weeks)

Rate: $25 per task (Average Handling Time: 45-60 minutes per task)

Work Schedule: 8 hours per day with 4 hours of overlap with PST

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled ML/AI Systems Engineer with strong experience in designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI agent systems.

The candidate will work on an exploratory mathematics research initiative, collaborating with mathematical researchers to develop intelligent AI agents capable of solving complex mathematical and scientific problems through multi-step reasoning, tool integration, and technical validation.
