TEKsystems is seeking an experienced AI/ML Platform Engineering leader to transform independent AI/ML initiatives into a governed, scalable enterprise platform. You will define governance, DevOps practices, and enable agentic AI capabilities while partnering with data science and business leaders.

This contract-to-hire onsite role in Milwaukee, WI focuses on building centralized platforms, standards, and security controls to scale AI across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, DevOps, MLOps, or AI Infrastructure.
• Proven track record building and operationalizing enterprise AI/ML platforms.
• Experience deploying and supporting machine learning or generative AI solutions in production environments.
• Strong cloud platform expertise including Azure (preferred), AWS, GCP.

Overview

Our client is seeking a highly experienced AI/ML Platform Engineering leader to help drive the next phase of the company's AI evolution. This is a strategic, hands-on opportunity to transform a collection of successful but largely independent AI and machine learning initiatives into a governed, scalable, enterprise-grade AI platform.

The ideal candidate is not a Data Scientist. Instead, we're looking for a seasoned Platform Engineer, MLOps Engineer, AI Infrastructure Engineer, or ML Platform Architect who has successfully built and operationalized AI/ML platforms from the ground up. This individual will play a key role in defining the client's AI future, establishing platform standards, governance frameworks, DevOps practices, and enabling next-generation AI capabilities, including agentic AI.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, partnering closely with Data Scientists, Enterprise Architects, Product Teams, and Business Leaders to create a secure, scalable, and future-ready AI ecosystem.

Key ResponsibilitiesAI & ML Platform Engineering

• Design, architect, and implement scalable enterprise AI and machine learning platforms.
• Build end-to-end frameworks supporting:
• Data ingestion
• Model training
• Model deployment

• Establish platform standards and best practices for AI adoption across the enterprise.
• Create reusable infrastructure and deployment patterns to accelerate AI solution delivery.

MLOps & AI Operations

• Design and implement enterprise-grade MLOps practices.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and management of ML and GenAI solutions.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for models, infrastructure, and data pipelines.
• Develop processes to detect:
• Model drift
• Data quality issues
• Performance degradation
• Infrastructure bottlenecks

Cloud & Infrastructure Leadership

• Architect AI infrastructure primarily within Azure environments.
• Leverage Kubernetes and cloud-native services to support scalable workloads.
• Design secure, reliable, and highly available platforms capable of supporting enterprise AI initiatives.
• Optimize infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

AI Strategy & Innovation

• Partner with Data Science teams to migrate existing solutions from ad hoc environments into governed production platforms.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and business leaders to define future-state AI capabilities.
• Help shape the client's roadmap for:
• Generative AI
• Agentic AI
• Autonomous workflows
• Multi-agent systems
• LLM orchestration and governance

Governance, Risk & Compliance

• Establish enterprise controls for:
• Responsible AI
• Data privacy
• Security
• Model explainability
• Bias mitigation
• Regulatory compliance
• Implement governance frameworks that allow AI innovation while minimizing risk.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, DevOps, MLOps, or AI Infrastructure.
• Proven track record building and operationalizing enterprise AI/ML platforms.
• Experience deploying and supporting machine learning or generative AI solutions in production environments.
• Strong cloud platform expertise including:
• Azure (preferred)
• AWS
• GCP
• Deep understanding of enterprise architecture, automation, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience supporting highly available, scalable production systems.

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $72.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
