Job summary

Motional is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer Tech Lead Manager to build and lead the ML Acceleration team. You will drive strategy, development, and execution to dramatically speed up ML model training and enable rapid hot-patching for deployed autonomous vehicle services.

You will recruit, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of ML/infra engineers, defining a roadmap aligned with company objectives and collaborating with research, training platforms, and product teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years in software eng., 5+ in ML systems/perf optimization.
• 3+ years in technical lead/management role.
• Extensive experience with large-scale ML model training/deployment.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems & cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Responsibilities

• LeadML acceleration team; define goals, roadmap, and priorities.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development.
• Define technical vision for ML acceleration across the company.
• Collaborate with ML research, training platform, and product teams to integrate solutions.
• Measure impact and drive continuous optimization and innovation.
