Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years software development with C/C++, MATLAB, and Simulink; experience auto coding Simulink to C++.
  • Strong fundamentals in rigid body dynamics, fluid mechanics, and physics-based models.
  • Experience with CI pipelines and Gitlab; Git configuration management.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

  • Develop tools to design, build, deploy and support simulation infrastructure.
  • Develop and integrate multidisciplinary models for multi-vehicle simulation using MATLAB, Simulink, and NASA TRICK.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. As part of a team of spacecraft development engineers, you will develop aerospace multidisciplinary models and simulations to ensure the correctness and performance of our flight software using platforms like desktop computers, software-in-the-loop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop labs, and on-vehicle simulations. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact delivery of payloads to the lunar surface. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Actively involved in the development of the tools needed to design, build, deploy and support our unique and state-of-the art simulation infrastructure
  • Develop and integrate multidisciplinary models for a multi-vehicle simulation using MATLAB, Simulink, and NASA’s TRICK framework
  • Collaborate with GN&C and other subsystems and spacecraft systems engineers to support the development of low- and high-fidelity plant models
  • Support the development, and execution of simulations and tools required for verification of functionalities
  • Interact with engineers across disciplines to assist with and ensure validation of models
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of software development and debugging skills, particularly in C/C++, MATLAB, and Simulink Experience auto coding Simulink to C++
  • Strong fundamentals in rigid body dynamics, fluid mechanics, and 1st principles physics-based mathematical models
  • Hands‑on experience with testing frameworks and Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines such as Gitlab
  • Experience with git configuration management
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Desire to work hands‑on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development, review, deployment, and support phases of the software product lifecycle.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Preferred Qualifications MS or higher degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary, and familiarity with software verification approaches

  • Experience writing software that efficiently handles the production, distribution and storage of large data sets.
