Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a Mixed-Signal Electronic Design Engineer to design, test, and oversee manufacturing of PCBs, analog/digital circuits, sensors, and navigation systems.

You will develop architectures, run simulations, perform layout, verify designs, and support life-cycle activities from planning to sustainment. A strong background in mixed-signal design and a track record of delivering hardware solutions is expected.

Qualifications

Job Description Summary:

A Mixed-Signal Electronic Design Engineer designs, develops, tests and oversees the manufacturing of electrical printed circuit boards (PCBs), analog and digital circuits, electronic equipment, sensors, motors, radar, and navigation systems.

In addition, the Mixed-Signal Electronic Design Engineer develops the architecture, designs circuit’s, performs simulations, performs physical layout, verifies and tests designs. Performs a variety of engineering activities throughout the life cycle to support planning, design, test, deployment, and sustainment.

The Tailored Systems Business Area within Electronics Program Office directorate delivers first-of-a-kind field-ready microelectronics solutions in support of National Security missions. The Draper team is chartered with supporting the Nation’s most challenging problems by 1) providing an iterative and agile approach to innovative and creative technical solutions delivered at the speed of mission and 2) driving leading edge technology development efforts to support future mission needs. This role will support a large multi-disciplinary team as part of a long-standing, fast-paced contract with history of immense success.

  • Schematic capture, simulation, and PCB layout/oversight, prototypes bring up and debugging, functional verification and performance characterization

  • Engages other engineers and partners to develop reliable, cost effective end solutions for products.

  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.

  • Independently executes assignments with minimal oversight.

  • Able to apply technical knowledge to solve problems.

  • Contributes high quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.

  • Proactively identifies needs and concerns associated with design decisions and communicates them to project leadership.

Additional Job Description:
  • Technical capability with strong electrical engineering fundamentals

  • Experience leading teams of engineers as well as a background in developing new products/business

  • Experience in all of the following areas of electronic design: miniature low power embedded systems, sensor integration, wireless communication interfaces, battery conditioning and maintenance.

  • Basic experience with microcontroller software (using C/C++/or assembly), and FPGA firmware (VHDL or Verilog). Ability to develop code for bring‑up tests or simple demos.

  • Familiarity with signal and power integrity analysis tools (Hyperlinx, Ansys).

  • Experience with miniature electronic packaging and design using bare die or chip‑scale packages. Ability to understand and influence packaging design constraints and requirements for custom designs.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is

$75,000.00 - $156,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Union ranges will be in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement’s approved rates by location and role.
