Job summary

ServiceMaster DSI in Hartford, CT is seeking a Mitigation Crew Chief to lead residential and commercial restoration projects, overseeing fire and water damage clean-up from start to finish. You will coordinate on-site operations, ensure quality workmanship, and guide the team to restore properties safely and efficiently.

You will manage tasks like debris removal, water extraction, content moves, and mold abatement while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have good communication skills.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Previous restoration experience is preferred.
• Ability to travel out of town.
• Able to move and/or lift 50+ lbs.
• Pass a background check and drug Screen.
• Water Restoration Tech Certification (WRT) / IICRC certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely, quality completion of restoration cleaning, moving, packing, or labor projects.
• Direct and supervise Restoration Technicians and staff on projects.
• Ensure competence and quality of restoration staff.
• Support ongoing training and skill development for crews.
• Maintain project documentation and photo-documentation per protocols.
• Maintain excellent customer communication and relations.
• Perform other duties as required.

The Role: Restoration Crew Chief

As a Restoration Crew Chief, you will lead residential and commercial restoration projects, overseeing fire and water damage clean-up from start to finish. In this role, you’ll coordinate on‑site operations, ensure quality workmanship, and guide your team in restoring properties safely and efficiently. Job assignments include but are not limited to specialty mitigation services, light demolition, water extraction, carpet and upholstery cleaning, mold abatement, vandalism clean‑up, fire and smoke damage mitigation, content move‑outs and pack ins, and content cleaning. This position also directs, aids and supervises the Restoration Technicians assigned to the project.

Payment: $26 - $30 per hour (negotiable based on experience) Plus Commission!

• Ensures the timely quality completion of assigned restoration cleaning, moving, packing, or general labor projects.
• Directs, aids and supervises the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers assigned to the Restoration Crew Chief by the Project Manager on a per project basis.
• Ensures and evaluates competence and quality of the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers.
• Ensures a continuous increase in the knowledge and skill level (training) of the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers.
• Ensures the productivity of the Restoration Techs and Staff Laborers assigned to the Restoration Crew Chief by the Production Manager.
• Ensures all required restoration project documentation, including forms and photo-documentation, is completed in accordance with established protocols.
• Ensures excellent customer communication and relations.
• Perform other duties as required. These duties may include job functions that are outside the scope of normal job duties.
