The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Mission Thread and Integration Engineer (Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer – Enterprise Systems Engineering) to lead cross-Directorate integration for a new national security satellite system.

You will serve as the front-facing Aerospace interface to government customers and coordinate with internal teams. The role requires extensive systems engineering experience, TS/SCI clearance, and the ability to work onsite 100% at a customer

Qualifications

• 8 years of progressively more responsible systems engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a multi-disciplined systems engineer in the program office assisting in the development and fielding of the next generation SIGINT architecture.
• Contribute to cross-Directorate Mission Thread integration to ensure alignment of system acquisitions and operational capabilities.
• Authors interface definitions across the architecture, to include space, ground C2 and processing, for the architecture.
• Contribute to architectural implementation trades leveraging the Aerospace mission analysis team.
• Identify opportunities for matrix engineering organization and lab resources to support concept development and analysis.
• Engage with Government Customers, while working with contractors across the program.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to Government Customers and Aerospace management.
• Apply MBSE/DE approach to program requirements management.

The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

Directorate E provides on-site support within a government program office in the oversight and management of a complex new national security satellite system. Within Directorate E, Aerospace provides acquisition, mission assurance, analytic, and systems engineering support. The Future Capabilities team supports the Chief Architect and Chief Engineer of a Directorate of a major customer in the National Security Space portfolio. In this opportunity you will serve as a Mission Thread nad Integration Engineer (Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer – Enterprise Systems Engineering) for a new architecture, to include all associated system and subsystem interfaces and functionality. You will be the team’s front-facing representative with Senior Government Officials to review and advise them on system engineering and mission integration, requirements authoring and flow-down, process and change management, and risk management. You will work closely with government counterparts to perform cross-Directorate integration of systems to meet stated operational capabilities. Additionally, you will work with the Aerospace modeling and simulation team to analyze impacts from requirements changes, architecture changes, and to define impacts to risks.

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, VA, which requires 100% onsite work at a customer facility.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Serve as a multi-disciplined systems engineer in the program office assisting in the development and fielding of the next generation SIGINT architecture
• Contribute to (Project Engineer) or Lead (Sr. Project Engineer) cross-Directorate Mission Thread integration to ensure alignment of system acquisitions and operational capabilities.
• Investigate and be familiar with (Project Engineer) and contribute to authorship of (Sr. Project Engineer) interface definitions across the architecture, to include space, ground C2 and processing
• Contribute to (Project Engineer) or Lead (Sr. Project Engineer) architectural implementation trades leveraging the Aerospace mission analysis team
• Identify opportunities for (Project Engineer) and/or Lead (Sr. Project Engineer) Aerospace matrix engineering organization and laboratory resources (ETG) to support concept development, requirement and mission analyses, and technology demonstrations
• Engage with (Project Engineer) or serve as the primary Aerospace interface to (Sr. Project Engineer) the Government Customer(s), while working collaboratively with a wide variety of other support contractors (e.g.- SETA) and development contractors who are associated with the program
• Present technical findings and recommendations to (Project Engineer) and/or independently generate technical findings and recommendations for (Sr. Project Engineer) Government Customers and Aerospace management
• Apply knowledge of Systems Engineering discipline to review (Project Engineer) or advise (Sr. Project Engineer) the MBSE/DE approach to program requirements management

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Project Engineer – Enterprise Systems Engineering

• 8 years of progressively more responsible systems engineering experience
• Bachelors degree in engineering or related discipline
• Technical knowledge of complex defense systems to include interfaces between system architecture and lower element levels
• Systems Engineering requirements definition and management experience
• This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and the ability to obtain a polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
• Willing to travel to program design reviews up to 10% of time, as required.

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Sr. Project Engineer – Enterprise Systems Engineering include:

• 12 years of progressively more responsible systems engineering experience
• Familiarity working with matrixed engineering organizations
• 2 Years of relevant Enterprise Systems Engineering experience within the DoD or IC

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$117,300.00 - $226,900.00 Pay Basis: Annual
