Job summary

AMEWAS is seeking a Mission System Specialist (JSE-NGTS Developer)-Journeyman to support advanced threat simulations at Langley AFB, Hampton, VA. The role is on-site with a salary range of $95,300.00—$139,900.00, commensurate with experience.

You will develop, integrate and validate NGTS scenarios, work with government and engineering teams, and contribute to live training events. A Bachelor’s in a STEM field and 3+ years in JSE/NGTS are required.

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 3 years of experience supporting JSE, NGTS or comparable modeling and simulation programs.
  • Experience developing military threat scenarios for OT and training environments.
  • Experience supporting verification and validation (V&V) and distributed simulation.
  • Strong understanding of military aviation operations, tactics, and mission planning.
  • Experience supporting Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software, simulation and network issues.
  • Proficient with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and SPORK.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance eligibility.

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Mission System Specialist (JSE-NGTS Developer)-Journeyman. The salary range of this position is $95,300.00 - $139,900.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on‑site support is required.

A typical day as a Mission System Specialist (JSE-NGTS Developer)-Journeyman may include:
  • Provides subject matter expertise supporting the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) through the development, integration, testing and execution of advanced threat scenarios within the Next Generation Threat System (NGTS)
  • Supports operational tests, developmental tests and distributed training events by researching military requirements, developing simulation scenarios, validating system performance and collaborating with government, engineering and operational stakeholders
  • Applies military operational experience and aviation expertise to develop realistic threat behaviors, support Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) simulation environments, participate in verification and validation activities and provide technical support during mission-critical test and training events
  • Applies military aviation subject matter expertise to research, develop and implement realistic threat scenarios supporting Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) operational tests, developmental tests and distributed training events
  • Develops, configures, modifies and maintains Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) scenario behaviors, entities and parametric data supporting mission-focused simulation environments
  • Researches intelligence products, operational requirements and military doctrine to accurately model threat systems, tactics, techniques and procedures within NGTS
  • Serves as the primary interface between government customers, engineers, operators and software developers to translate operational requirements into executable simulation scenarios
  • Supports distributed simulation integration across JSE, DMO/DMON and Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) training architectures
  • Participates in technical planning meetings supporting simulation development, system integration, customer demonstrations and mission rehearsal events
  • Executes verification and validation (V&V) activities by evaluating simulation models, threat behaviors and operational scenarios to ensure accuracy, reliability and mission effectiveness
  • Analyzes simulation performance, identifies deficiencies, troubleshoots technical issues and documents findings using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, SPORK and other engineering collaboration tools
  • Supports operational test and evaluation (OT&E), developmental testing, software integration and Joint Technical Baseline (JTB) releases
  • Collaborates with cross-functional engineering, software development, integration and operational teams to implement new simulation capabilities
  • Operates model entities during distributed simulation events supporting operational exercises and customer demonstrations
  • Develops technical documentation, SOPs and user guidance to support scenario development and simulation operations
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and recommends enhancements to distributed training capabilities
  • Supports high-visibility, mission-critical aviation simulation events while coordinating multiple stakeholders
Must-haves:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Aviation, Military Science or a STEM related discipline
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • 3 years of experience supporting JSE, NGTS or comparable modeling and simulation programs
  • Experience developing military threat scenarios supporting operational test and training environments
  • Experience supporting verification and validation (V&V), operational testing, system integration and distributed simulation
  • Strong understanding of military aviation operations, tactical employment, threat systems and mission planning
  • Experience supporting Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) simulation environments
  • The ability to troubleshoot software, simulation and network-related issues
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, SPORK or similar collaboration tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Additional Accesses: The ability to obtain and maintain the DoD security clearance eligibility and/or additional security access requirements necessary to perform the duties of the position, as required by the contract
Desired Skills:
  • Experience working in military aviation as a pilot, air crew, weapons officer, intelligence analyst, electronic warfare specialist or mission planner
  • Experience supporting Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and DMON architectures
  • Knowledge of High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)
  • Experience supporting 5th Generation aircraft operational testing/training
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems, scripting and software integration
  • Experience supporting NAVAIR modeling and simulation programs
  • Knowledge of intelligence community products and military threat system development

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work at customer work sites and in laboratories for a majority of their day, on site versus in an office. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. Overnight travel will be required.

The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs.
