Qualifications

• Advanced control methods: robust, adaptive, nonlinear, and model-predictive controls.
• Experience with automotive simulation/validation (HIL/SIL).
• Proficient in Python and embedded C/C++ programming.

The Role: We are seeking an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Motion Controls Software engineer to support design, development, testing and implementation of ADAS Lateral Control software for Super Cruise and other GM Active Safety features. As an ADAS Mission Planning and Motion Controls engineer, you will promote innovation through inspired software development work and provide effective cross team collaboration. You will play a pivotal role in helping to define and execute GM's ADAS current production and future product software strategy across all controllers, ensuring seamless coordination of software deliveries.

The ADAS Mission Planning and Motion Controls Software Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of production active safety and automated driving software with speed and quality and with focus on efficient software design and optimized software architecture to maximize reuse across all scalable ADAS platforms. This engineer will collaborate with other ADAS application software engineering teams to deliver ADAS software products with industry leading performance and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms and real-time software for automated/autonomous driving features, such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Super Cruise 2.0, Super Cruise 3.0 and Front/Rear Impact Mitigation, that raise baseline performance to desired levels and reduces manual calibration effort
• Develop CI/CD pipeline that continuously validates feature control performance for each software change
• Conduct software verification and robust feature validation using unit testing, SIL/HIL, and extensive in-vehicle performance testing
• Participate in the software change management process
• Maintain the latest performance on test vehicles and management of vehicle test fleet
• Support production calibration activities and the resolution of field and customer issues
• Develop creative and innovative solutions and protect intellectual property through patents and publications
• Valid driver’s license
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or Mechatronics/Software/Electrical/Computer Engineering
• 5+ years of experience developing control systems and/or motion planner
• Advanced skills in control systems design: robust, adaptive, nonlinear, and model-predictive controls
• Knowledge of online learning algorithms, such as Kalman Filter and Recursive Least-Squares
• Automotive simulation and validation experience (HIL/SIL)
• Knowledgeable in vehicle dynamics and numerical methods
• Experience with software design, Simulink modelling, Python and embedded C/C++ programming
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Able to learn independently, highly adaptable and embracing of changes
• High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work well with other team members
• Valid driver’s license
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with functional safety and ISO 26262
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
• Knowledge of embedded control systems and industrial/automotive hardware controllers for ADAS
• Familiarity with vehicle dynamics simulation packages (CarSim and CarMaker)
• Experience being a team leader
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum development processes and tools
