Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a Data Scientist to apply statistics, ML, and NLP to government health, readiness, and performance data. You’ll frame questions with stakeholders, prepare data, build models, and communicate results through reports and visual analytics using Power BI and other Gov tools.

Work includes automating recurring analyses, maintaining data quality, and presenting findings to non-technical leadership. Top-secret/secret clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline with coursework or project work in statistics, programming, and quantitative analysis.
• Minimum of one year applying data science or statistical methods to real-world problems.
• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and SQL for querying relational data.
• Working knowledge of applied statistics and machine-learning methods.
• Ability to prepare and clean data, data modeling basics, and reproducible workflows.
• Experience producing visual analytics and reports for decision-makers (Power BI preferred).
• Ability to translate mission needs into analytical questions and outputs.

Responsibilities

• Query, clean, transform, and prepare data from government sources for analysis.
• Develop and document predictive and prescriptive models and forecasts.
• Support NLP/language data use cases using approved tools.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and executive reports using government tools (Power BI).
• Automate recurring analyses and monthly/quarterly reports.
• Document data sources, transformations, and validation procedures for reproducibility.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly to leadership and staff.
• Collaborate with clinical/performance staff to improve data inputs and quality.
