Job summary

The Catholic Diocese of Peoria is looking for a Director of Communications to lead its Office of Communications. This role requires a visionary leader with expertise to support parishes in their outreach and promote the mission of Jesus Christ across Central Illinois.

Key responsibilities include executing communication strategies, leading media relations, and supporting evangelization initiatives. The role is open to practicing Catholics with a strong background in communications or public relations.

Qualifications

• A practicing Catholic with a deep understanding of and love for the Church.
• Proven experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing.
• Ability to plan strategically while executing hands-on strategies.
• Excellent communication skills and strong leadership instincts.

Responsibilities

• Execute a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy.
• Lead media relations and crisis communications.
• Support evangelization efforts across parishes.
• Promote the Growing Disciples initiatives with bishops.
• Provide communication support across diocesan events.
