Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Data Analyst – Journeyman to analyze structured and unstructured data to support decision-making across USSOCOM. This role, based at Fort Bragg, NC, involves developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations to provide actionable insights for leadership and mission teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and BI tool skills (Tableau/Power BI), experience with data modeling, and familiarity with data governance and cybersecurity standards.

Qualifications

• Education & experience requirements: high school diploma with 6+ years, or 4 years with an associate's, or 2 years with a bachelor's.
• Active DoD TS/SCI clearance or higher required.
• Strong data modeling, transformation, and visualization experience.
• SQL proficiency for data extraction and analysis.
• Knowledge of at least one object‑oriented language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, .NET).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access.
• Ability to create data visualizations that inform leadership decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, cleaning, transforming, and analyzing large data sets from multiple sources to identify trends and support decision-making.
• Developing and maintaining dashboards and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, or other BI platforms.
• Working with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and design user-friendly reports and visualizations.
• Writing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from enterprise databases.
• Writing Excel queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from legacy sources.
• Providing recurring and ad hoc reports for operational and leadership teams.
• Designing data models and workflows to enhance reporting efficiency.
• Performing data quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of outputs.
• Documenting data sources, processes, and report specifications for continuity and audit readiness.
• Collaborating with IT and DBAs to troubleshoot data access and integration issues.
• Providing analytical support for strategic initiatives, planning, and mission readiness assessments.
• Ensuring compliance with USSOCOM data governance and cybersecurity standards.
• Presenting findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
