Job summary

APT Research is seeking a Software Assurance Engineer to support the SMAS III contract at Wallops Flight Facility. The role focuses on software safety analyses, hazard assessments, and lifecycle oversight for safety-critical systems supporting NASA SMA operations.

You will develop assurance plans, maintain traceability, and conduct audits in accordance with NASA standards and RCC guidelines, with an active DOD clearance and strong multi-project coordination expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Minimum of seven years of related experience.
• Active DOD clearance required.
• Experience with software safety criticality assessment methodologies.
• Familiarity with hazard analysis techniques and risk assessment frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Provide software assurance and safety engineering support for NASA mission and project software, emphasizing safety-critical systems.
• Support multiple small projects with compliance verification, hazard analysis, and lifecycle oversight.
• Classify software and assess criticality using NASA engineering requirements.
• Develop and maintain software assurance plans, hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
• Perform requirements, design, and implementation analyses for safety-critical systems, including code coverage and static analysis.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, design, implementation, tests, and hazard analyses.
