Job summary

Adaptic is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer to design, implement, and sustain secure systems for DoD and Intelligence Community missions. You’ll balance security with performance and mission needs across the system lifecycle.

The role requires an active TS/SCI with polygraph, RMF experience, and knowledge of NIST standards. You’ll produce security documentation, support ATO processes, and collaborate with engineers to harden architectures.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with polygraph is required.
• Experience in information systems security engineering or related roles.
• Strong RMF knowledge and ability to map to NIST standards (800-37, 800-53).
• Experience developing or supporting security documentation and authorization processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform security assessments of complex systems and environments.
• Design and integrate secure system, network, and enclave architectures.
• Apply RMF and other risk frameworks to support ATO and compliance.
• Develop and maintain security documentation (SSPs, RMF artifacts, ATO packages).
• Identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support security planning, risk analysis, and system hardening efforts.
• Ensure compliance with NIST, NSA, and DoD policies and standards.
• Collaborate with system engineers, network engineers, and program teams to implement secure solutions.
• Support continuous monitoring and ongoing system security improvements.
• Advise stakeholders on security requirements and trade-offs.
