Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Mission Assurance - Manager Level 2 to join our team in Chandler, AZ. This position reports to the Director of Mission Assurance.

This position is responsible for managing a team of Mission Assurance Engineers focused on external program unique requirement support.

The Effort Includes

  • Coordinating and collaborating with Program Managers, principally Mission Assurance Managers, to identify unique, non-standard external program tasks and efforts.
  • Develop flexible processes and procedures to enable efficient completion of program external requirements.
  • Develop and administer training for Mission Assurance Engineering reports
  • Provide timely matrixed resources to satisfy program requirements.
  • Develop and maintain schedules and staffing requirements to efficiently meet program requirements and maximize resource utilization.
  • Establish and maintain a staff of Mission Assurance Engineers to ensure program unique external requirements are executed correctly, that include;
    • External Hardware Acceptance Reviews
    • External process qualifications
    • External hardware qualifications
    • Support for flowdown of program unique requirements by purchase order or subcontract Statement of Work.
  • Perform contract reviews to assist Mission Assurance Managers in identifying and planning program unique needs.
  • Perform subcontract and/or Statements of work reviews to assist Supply Chain and Supplier Quality in planning program unique needs.

Your Role And Impact

The position requires leading and managing a team of Mission Assurance Engineers focused on providing programs external support requirements.

Areas of responsibility include team management with emphasis on supplied products and hardware acceptance and pedigree reviews. Planning work tasks, identifying and securing personnel and equipment resources, personnel management, communicating status, issues and resolutions plans to functional management and providing technical leadership to the team.

Candidates must possess demonstrated management and leadership skills. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. Must have the ability and desire to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with staff, program management, engineering and subcontractors. Excellent written and oral communications skills is a must.

Manages a team of Mission Assurance Engineers that participate on assessments and product acceptance reviews at suppliers when required by contract.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience including people management experience - OR - Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience including people management experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100-based Quality Management Systems, including audits, corrective action closure, and developing/implementing Mission Assurance or Quality Assurance plans.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting engineered hardware or complex systems, including manufacturing and quality assurance processes and leading technical/cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Government security clearance of Secret or above
  • Demonstrated people-leadership experience (management, supervisory, or team lead), in aerospace or defense programs.
  • Demonstrated people-leadership experience (management, supervisory, or team lead), in aerospace or defense programs.
  • Experience leading projects and driving performance to schedule, including use of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Proven experience leading continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, mistake-proofing, process standardization) and broader process improvement projects.
  • Experience implementing or enhancing digital quality tools and systems (e.g., electronic QMS, nonconformance tracking, metrics dashboards).
  • Strong ability to understand, interpret, and implement complex technical customer and program requirements while prioritizing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
