Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Mission Engineer to own mission representation for programs, translating needs into traceable autonomy requirements. You will work across engineering, product, and defense stakeholders to inform design trade-offs, system requirements, and operational concepts.

Responsibilities include developing mission threads, CONOPS, and architectures; conducting trade studies; and ensuring rigorous verification through models and analyses in collaboration with government partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mission engineering, systems engineering, operational analysis, or related field.
• Experience in mission-thread analysis, force-on-force analysis, capability-gap analysis, CONOPS development, or military campaign modeling.
• Proficiency with SysML and tools like AFSIM, STK, MATLAB, or Python for aerospace and defense applications.

Responsibilities

• Employ the Mission Engineering process to develop analyses and assess how autonomous capabilities enable mission effects.
• Utilize SysML and modeling tools alongside AFSIM, STK, MATLAB, Python to develop mission models and traceability artifacts.
• Develop Mission Engineering artifacts such as mission threads, CONOPS, and architectures for new AI-driven capabilities.
