Job summary

America Networks is seeking a Systems and Application Engineer to join the IT operations team. You will support Windows and Linux OS, hardware for UCS B/C series, and server components while assisting vendor and custom applications with Active Directory and SQL.

You will work with VMware, SAN Storage, and NetApp, providing hosted and managed solution support. Monitoring tools like SCOM, SCCM, Service Manager are used daily, with opportunities to improve processes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience with Operating Systems and Application support.
• Must be able to multitask.
• Available to work in a mission critical 24/7 operations center: shift work, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide OS support for Windows and Linux environments.
• Handle hardware support for UCS B/C series and server parts replacement.
• Support vendor and custom applications; work with Active Directory and SQL.
• Utilize VMware, SAN Storage, NetApp; provide hosted/managed solution support.
• Use monitoring platforms: SCOM, Service Manager, SCCM.
• Create change process documentation (MOPS).
• Perform standard changes and escalate complex issues.
• Be primary technical contact during critical events and customer bridges.
• Process client alerts and tickets to meet SLA commitments.
• Own escalation resolutions with internal/external teams.
• Collaborate on cross-department projects with Verizon teams.
• Recommend process/monitoring/tech improvements to Tier 3 and Service Delivery.

Systems and Application Engineer

Responsibilities

This engineer will support the Operating Systems and Application infrastructure for ISD customer environments.

• Operating System support: Windows or Linux
• Hardware Support: UCS B or C series, Server parts replacement (various)
• Application Support: Experience learning and supporting vendor and custom based applications; experience with Active Directory, SQL
• Technologies/Solutions: VMWARE, SAN Storage, NetApp, Hosted and Managed Solution support
• Experience with the following monitoring and event platforms: SCOM, Service Manager, SCCM
• Create change process documentation (MOPS)
• Perform standard changes and provide escalation support for complex technical issues
• Act as primary technical in critical event management situations including providing support on technical and customer bridges
• Work client alerts and associated trouble tickets to meet all contractual SLA's
• Own the resolution of escalated internal and external client issues
• Work on cross departmental projects with Verizon internal and external teams
• Provide recommendations to Tier 3, Service Delivery team, and management on process, monitoring, or technical improvements
