The Cincinnati Reds are seeking a Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coach to manage the daily strength and conditioning program for a Reds Minor League Affiliate in Goodyear, AZ. This role calls for leadership of training, monitoring, and scheduling across home and road sites.

Responsibilities include data collection, performance tracking, and effective communication with coaching and player development leadership.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Exercise Science or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • CSCS certification required; RSCC certification preferred.
  • CPR/AED certifications required; must be current and on-file.
  • Experience in professional sports or intercollegiate athletic training; professional baseball exposure preferred.
  • Knowledge of weight training and conditioning techniques; ability to train or instruct athletes.

  • Oversee and implement the Cincinnati Reds Strength & Conditioning program internationally.
  • Lead daily warm-up activities; monitor weight room and on-field conditioning sessions.
  • Schedule strength sessions home and on the road; track adherence to training programs.

Job Summary

Responsible for the Cincinnati Reds Strength and Conditioning Program on a daily basis at a Reds Minor League Affiliate.

Requirements
Education
  • BA/BS in Exercise Science or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure
  • CSCS certification required. RSCC certification preferred.
  • CPR/AED certifications required.
  • Must be current and on-file.
Experience
  • Experience in professional sports or intercollegiate athletic training. Time spent in professional baseball preferred.
Skills
  • Knowledge of weight training and conditioning techniques
  • Skill in training or instructing athletes
  • May supervise and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees.
  • Leadership of a department, unit or major function and/or direct supervision over administrative & professional employees and ability to provide functional guidance of support staff.
  • Independent judgment and ability to multitask is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be trustworthy and comfortable with managing sensitive information, including compliance with HIPAA.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Spoken and written fluency in English. Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to travel within the United States and the Dominican Republic.
  • Report to Spring Training in Goodyear, AZ.
  • Willing to relocate during the baseball season. Location of employment will be an assigned minor league affiliate team.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Strength & Conditioning Program Implementation – 60%
  • Oversee and implement the Cincinnati Reds Strength & Conditioning program internationally.
  • Lead daily warm-up activities.
  • Monitor weight room sessions and on-field conditioning activities.
  • Schedule and coordinate strength and conditioning sessions at home and on the road.
  • Ensure players are completing prescribed training programs and performance initiatives.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Player Monitoring & Performance Tracking – 25%
  • Conduct objective performance data collection on a weekly basis.
  • Track daily player activities and participation.
  • Monitor player workload, conditioning progress, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Maintain accurate records to support player development and performance evaluation.
Administrative & Organizational Support – 15%
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports.
  • Communicate player updates and program information to Strength & Conditioning leadership.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects assigned by the Coordinator or departmental leadership.
  • Support overall Health & Performance and Player Development initiatives.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds (lifting athletes, supplies, equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach, and climb stairs regularly in the course of daily duties.
  • Comfortable working in varying conditions (heat, humidity, cold, outdoors, confined spaces like office/cubicles and locker rooms). Proper clothing attire is provided for job duties.
  • Ability to handle repetitive tasks.
  • Sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for tasks like computer work, note-taking, etc.
  • Ability to remain on feet for long shifts and to work long and variable hours, including weekends and holidays.
