International Friendships, Inc. seeks a Blacksburg Ministry Leader to serve international students through Bible discussions, events, and mentoring.

The role requires living near Virginia Tech and building partnerships with campus staff, churches, and volunteers to expand the ministry. You will recruit and maintain prayer and financial partners, manage events, and help develop a sustainable team to cover salary and ministry expenses.

International Friendships, Inc. is a growing faith-based organization, whose mission is to extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international college students. We do this by offering services, such as airport pickups, holiday hosting, temporary housing, conversation partnerships, and social events and trips.

Expected work schedule for the Blacksburg Ministry Leader :

• Full- or part-time, flexible schedule
• Occasional evenings and/or weekends for specific events/projects
• Attendance at several conferences each year, including IFI Staff Retreats

Pay structure for a Blacksburg Ministry Leader :

• Requires the development of a ministry partner team which supplies the necessary prayer and financial support to cover salary, benefits, and ministry expenses
• Training is provided to develop a team of ministry partners
• Pay range is typically between $28,093 and $87,418 after the period of support development, based on experience and other factors

About the area and Responsibilities of a Blacksburg Ministry Leader

Virginia Tech is a premier hub for international student ministry. It is located in Blacksburg, a vibrant college town nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia. Virginia Tech is a top public research university renowned for its world-class engineering, technology, and agriculture programs. The campus welcomes nearly 4,000 international students and scholars from over 100 countries, demonstrating that exceptional students from around the globe continue to choose Blacksburg for their education. This position is part of the Blacksburg ministry team and requires the candidate to live near the campus on which they will be serving.

The Blacksburg Ministry Leader will:

Serve international students by starting Bible discussion groups, hosting events, and mentoring at least 1 international student

Register and maintain IFI as a recognized student organization and build relationships with campus staff and organizations

Establish partnerships with local churches and mobilize volunteers

Develop and maintain financial and prayer partnerships by sharing the ministry's vision

Qualifications needed from the Blacksburg Ministry Leader, including Spiritual Characteristics

• Adherence to IFI's statement of faith, core values, and policies
• Is faithful, loyal and dedicated to IFI's mandate from the Lord to extend God's love globally through equipping Christians to be effective cross-cultural communicators of the Gospel
• Well organized with attention to detail and ability to complete tasks independently
• Be a self-starter, able to work independently, as well as a team player
• Ability to work under stress and be flexible
• Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google applications

Education/Experience Required for a Blacksburg Ministry Leader:

• Bachelor degree (or higher) in education and/or ministry-related field or demonstrated experience mobilizing, training, and ministering to people
