Job description

SUMMARY

This position is tasked with implementing mine strategies and meeting output targets while minimizing expenses and upholding strict safety and quality standards. Collaborating with the EHS supervisor, the individual will manage inspection, sampling, and reporting timelines to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal mandates, including SPCC, SWPPP, Air Permit, and WPDES regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute short-term mine engineering and planning based on the Corporate Mine group's five-year strategic objectives.
  • Manage the development of quarry faces to ensure alignment with mine plans and full compliance with MSHA safety standards.
  • Oversee daily assignments and provide supervision for hourly staff as required.
  • Lead comprehensive mine production operations, encompassing:
    • Loading, hauling, and sizing; crushing and stockpiling; ore delivery to the plant; waste and stripping management; infrastructure maintenance and road watering; and tailings disposal and reclamation.
  • Champion site safety and housekeeping by actively participating in safety initiatives, managing workplace inspections, and resolving identified hazards.
  • Utilize mine modeling software to conduct progress surveys and perform volume updates.
  • Keep management informed of operational risks or issues related to equipment, personnel, quality, or material logistics.
  • Supervise mine-specific capital projects and coordinate the work of external contractors involved in blasting, hauling, and reclamation.
  • Partner with the EHS supervisor to maintain regulatory compliance for emissions, water, and land use, including:
    • Reporting and inspections for WPDES, SPCC, SWPPP, and Air Permits.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Environmental on disturbance reporting and the development of reclamation strategies.
  • Ensure all environmental permit training is completed and that operational policies and work standards are strictly followed.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mining, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • Practical experience in earth-moving operations or short-range mine planning.
  • Proficiency with CAD modeling software, specifically Vulcan, is favored.
  • Background in surveying activities.
  • Proven ability to manage government permits and engage with regulatory agencies is preferred.
  • Preferred experience in stormwater management and site reclamation.
  • Capability to utilize required personal protective equipment, including a respirator.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license.
