Job summary

Cherokee Brick & Tile Company is seeking a Mechanic Helper to assist Mine Mechanics with inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy mining equipment. You will help with preventive maintenance, parts replacement, housekeeping, and learning MSHA safety practices under experienced mechanics.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, MSHA training, and willingness to work in industrial mining environments with potential overtime and Saturdays during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn heavy equipment maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical repair techniques.
• Must successfully complete MSHA training and company training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection, maintenance, and repair of loaders, bulldozers, excavators, haul trucks, and other mining equipment.
• Support preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, fluid checks, and filter changes.
• Assist with troubleshooting, disassembly, and reassembly of components.
• Transport tools, parts, and equipment around the mine and keep the shop organized.
• Follow safety policies, MSHA regulations, and LOTO procedures.
