Job summary

Nevada Cement Company is seeking an Operations Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate mining activities in Fernley, NV. You will develop mine plans, supervise drilling and hauling, optimize equipment use, and ensure budget adherence and compliance with MSHA and environmental regulations.

The role emphasizes safety leadership, cost control, and collaboration with plant operations to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate mining activities to achieve production targets.
• Develop and execute short-term and long-term mine plans.
• Coordinate drilling, blasting, excavation, hauling, and stockpile management.
• Optimize equipment utilization and workforce productivity.
• Monitor production rates and adjust operations to meet objectives.
• Coordinate crusher feed requirements with plant operations.
• Ensure proper inventory and quality of raw materials supplied to the cement plant.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety policies.
• Oversee dust control, stormwater management, reclamation, and permit compliance.
• Maintain environmental records and reporting.
• Prepare and manage the annual mine operating budget.
• Monitor production costs and pursue continuous improvement.
• Manage expenditures for labor, equipment, fuel, explosives, and contractors.
• Support capital project planning and execution.

Specific Job Requirements

Operations Management

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all mining activities to achieve production targets.
• Develop and execute short-term and long-term mine plans.

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Oversee dust control, stormwater management, reclamation activities, and permit compliance.
• Maintain accurate environmental records and reporting.
• Coordinate inspections with regulatory agencies as required.
  Budget & Cost Control
  
• Prepare and manage the annual mine operating budget.
  
• Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  
• Manage expenditures for labor, equipment, fuel, explosives, and contractors.
  
• Support capital project planning and execution.

Planning & Reporting

• Maintain production reports, equipment utilization reports, and operating metrics.
  
• Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve operational efficiency.
  
• Coordinate with geology, engineering, quality control, and plant operations.

Safety Leadership

• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in compliance with MSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all employees and contractors receive required safety training.
