Job summary

RHI Magnesita is seeking an experienced maintenance professional for our York, PA Minerals and Quarry operation. The role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems, performing preventive maintenance, and improving equipment reliability across the plant.

You will work with crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, kilns, and dryers, partnering with operators to minimize downtime and keep production safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience repairing industrial equipment including gearboxes, conveyors, and bearings.
• Experience with PLC and electrical troubleshooting, including ladder logic.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.
• Welding experience (stick/MIG).
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues across the plant.
• Maintain gearboxes, power transmission components, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Test electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC three-phase using meters and PLC diagnostics.
• Troubleshoot ladder logic and relay logic control systems with safety-first practices.
• Perform preventive maintenance and collaborate with operators to minimize downtime and increase reliability.

RHI Magnesita is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to support our Minerals and Quarry operation in York, PA. In this role, you’ll troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems, perform preventive maintenance, and help improve equipment reliability across the plant.

You’ll work with equipment including crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, kilns, and dryers, partnering with equipment operators to identify problems, minimize downtime, and keep production running safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

Troubleshoot and repair equipment

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues throughout the Minerals Plant.
• Maintain gearboxes, power transmission components, bearings, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
• Test electrical systems ranging from 24VDC to 480VAC three-phase using multimeters, megohmmeters, and PLC diagnostics.
• Troubleshoot programmable logic and relay logic control systems using required NFPA 70E personal protective equipment and safe work practices.

Maintain and improve plant reliability

• Perform preventive maintenance to support safe, reliable equipment operation.
• Work with equipment operators to assess problems and complete repairs efficiently.
• Identify and support equipment and process improvements that increase productivity and reduce costs.

What You Bring

You’re a self-starter with strong electrical, mechanical, and analytical skills. You can work independently, communicate clearly with operators and teammates, and approach troubleshooting with safety as your first priority.

Required Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience repairing industrial equipment, including gearboxes, power transmission components, conveyors, and bearings.
• Experience with PLC and electrical troubleshooting, including understanding and troubleshooting ladder logic programs.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with experience installing, maintaining, or repairing them in an industrial environment.
• Prior experience with stick and MIG welding.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training in electromechanical principles through an accredited institution or on-the-job training with another employer.

This role involves work in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment, both indoors and outdoors. Conditions may include heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and dirty environments. Work may also involve heights and confined spaces.

You’ll follow all RHI Magnesita health, safety, environmental, and Integrated Management System policies, use required personal protective equipment, and safely operate machinery and equipment. The role also requires using standard office equipment, including computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
