Responsibilities

  • Perform pit and blasthole mapping and interpret geological contacts and material types.
  • Analyze blasthole data to define ore/waste boundaries and optimize grade/dilution.
  • Support grade control, ore routing, blending, and leach pad placement.
  • Oversee sampling QA/QC and ensure data quality.
  • Maintain digital geological data and 3D models; assist with mine planning.

Mine GeologistLocation: Pan Mine, Ely NevadaDepartment: Technical ServicesReports to: Technical Services ManagerCompensation: $86,500 to $105,000 (DOE and skill level)Pan Mine is seeking a Mine Geologist to join our Technical Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry- to mid-level geologist who is interested in building hands-on experience in an active open-pit gold mining environment.The Mine Geologist provides day-to-day geological support to mining operations, working closely with Mine Operations, Engineering, Exploration, Process, Safety, and Survey. The position is involved in grade control, pit and blasthole mapping, ore routing, reconciliation, geological modeling, and near-mine exploration activities.What You’ll do:Perform pit and blast pattern mapping and interpret geological contacts, structures, alteration, and material typesAnalyze blasthole assay and geological data to help define ore and waste boundaries, optimize grade, and minimize dilutionSupport grade control, ore routing, blending, and appropriate leach pad placementOversee blasthole sampling and assist with established QA/QC and data-quality practicesMonitor and document geological conditions within active mining areasProvide geological information to support short- and long-term mine planningAssist with month-end geological and reconciliation reportingMaintain digital geological and pit mapping data and support development of 3D geological modelsWork with Exploration to identify and evaluate potential near-mine drilling targetsSupport RC drilling programs, including drill supervision and chip logging, as neededCollaborate with Survey and other site teams to support daily mining activitiesWhat We’re Looking For:Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related earth science fieldPrevious open-pit mining, mine geology, or exploration experience is preferred but not required for a strong entry-level candidateExposure to 3D geological or mine planning software is preferred; experience with MineSight, Vulcan, Datamine, Micromine, or similar programs is beneficialStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data qualityAbility to interpret geological and assay data and communicate findings effectivelyStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with appropriate direction while contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary teamWillingness to learn, take on increasing responsibility, and work in both office and field environmentsStrong commitment to safe work practices and mine-site proceduresValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordWhat We OfferSafety-focused work environmentCompetitive compensationOpportunity to grow within a developing Nevada gold operationTeam-oriented culture built on accountability and operational excellenceWork EnvironmentThis position combines office and field work in an active open-pit mining environment.
