Job summary

Pennsy Supply, a CRH company, is seeking a Mine Engineer Intern to apply your college studies to real mining and geology challenges across our Harrisburg region. You will rotate through operations, geology, planning, and field teams while supporting safety programs and plant optimization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict adherence to all safety policies (MSHA/OSHA/DOT).
• Collaborate with Operations to review mine planning and geology analyses.
• Assist in short/long term mine planning and cost saving initiatives.
• Spend time in field operations for aggregates and shadow operations personnel.

Position Overview

The Mine Engineer Intern will work for approximately 10-12 weeks at Pennsy Supply, Inc. to integrate the education received from a college and/or university to the company’s objectives. The Intern will be exposed to a variety of departments and work environments during the internship. This will involve travel to and between various plants in Pennsy Supply’s Harrisburg, PA market region.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)

• Maintain strict adherence to all our Safety policies. You will learn the different rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc. in the early days of your internship.
• Working with Operations to review the following:
• Collaborates and conducts geological exploration and analysis.
• Assist in short/long term mine planning.
• Inventory management.
• Mine permitting.
• Analyzing geology at multiple quarries
• Understand how plant operations work.
• Introduction to the engineering process
• 3-year capital expenditures
• Aggflow analysis
• Right size mobile equipment
• Cost saving initiatives
• Project payback criteria
• Assist Drone Operator for mine planning, topography mapping and stripping calculations.
• Quality Control/Quality Assurance
• Spend time in field operations for aggregates.
• Shadow operations personnel to learn operational planning and aggregate objectives.
• Work with crews and managers on blasting operations.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Regular and timely attendance

Education/Experience

• Mine Engineering or Geology major with college and/or University Junior.
• Desired 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word and Excel.

General Requirements

• Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations.
• Ability to travel with a current driver’s license.
• Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check.
