Job summary

Kearney-County Health Services is seeking an LPN or RN to join the Minden Medical Clinic team. The role involves patient preparation for exams, administering medications, wound care, and assisting with minor surgery under the supervision of a Provider.

Responsibilities include documenting vital signs, managing medication stock, and supporting vaccination programs. Strong patient communication and adherence to clinic policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess nursing diploma from an approved program.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Currently licensed as LPN or RN in Nebraska; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and assist with procedures.
• Administer injections and medications, dress wounds, and assist with minor surgeries.
• Maintain vital statistics and patient data records; track narcotics and medications.
• Manage stock of supplies and medications; order and track vaccines when applicable.
• Provide patient education and screen for triage referrals; schedule referrals as needed.
• Support clinic operations and safety committees as directed by Clinic Director.

- Weekdays: 8:00am - 5:00pm

- Saturday Rotation; 8:00am - 12:00pm (Typically every 6th or 7th weekend)

Reports To: Clinic Lead Nurse / Director of Primary Care

Essential Job Functions Duties and Responsibilities

• Will work with one dedicated Clinic Provider
• Prepares patients for and assists with examinations.
• Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, interprets practitioner’s instructions to the patients, assists with emergency and minor surgery, and performs related tasks as directed by practitioner.
• Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent patient data.
• Keeps Drug Room supplies up to date and counts narcotics daily.
• Maintains stock of supplies and medications.
• Conducts specific laboratory test, as licensing allows
• Other duties as requested by Clinic Director and/or practitioners

PHONE TRIAGE AND REFERRAL

• Screens calls to practitioners, answering patient questions under the practitioners’ guidance.
• Makes referral appointments with other physicians.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITES

• Maintains stocking of supplies and equipment.
• In charge of scheduling both the event and staffing of the annual flu shot clinics.
• Provides education for and inspections of child safety seat installation.
• Ordering and tracking of medication supplies.
• Maintains Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program.
• Serves on the KCHS Safety Committee.
• Notifies the Infection Control Nurse of real or potential exposures.
