Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries in Eugene, Oregon is seeking a Millwright / Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair all mechanical parts and machinery in our sawmill. You will troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair machines and equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

The role involves dismantling machinery, fabricating replacement parts, conducting diagnostic tests, assembling and maintaining systems, and working overtime during busy production times.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ recent verifiable related work history or equivalent education.
• Proficient in welding, cutting, and using hand tools for repairs.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and bearings.
• Ability to recognize, report, and repair mechanical defects.
• Industrial mill maintenance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all mechanical parts and machinery in a manufacturing facility
• Troubleshoot, install, replace, and repair machines and equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Dismantle machinery and equipment, locate cause of malfunctioning or mechanical breakdown, replace parts from stock or fabricate replacement parts as needed
• Fabricate machine components for repairs and improvements of mechanical devices
• Effectively conduct and assess diagnostic tests to ensure optimum system functionality
• Assemble, install, and proactively maintain mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment for efficient operation
• Operate arc welder, cutting torch, hand tools, forklift, and welding truck
• Fabricate, weld, mill, and lathe as needed
• Perform general maintenance in a safe and efficient manner and maintain a clean work area
• Work may consist of various shifts and overtime including weekends and holidays during busy production times
