Job summary

Qualifications

  • Transport and locate machines and equipment to the desired location.

  • Read and understand design layouts and blueprints.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Transport and locate machines and equipment to the desired location according to floor plans, or as directed using forklifts, hoists, winches, cranes and other equipment.
  • Responsible for installing, assembling, and, when necessary, dismantling machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Use micrometers and other precision measuring devices to achieve the extreme tolerances required.
  • Follow instructions from foreman and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Ability to lead an apprentice on smaller projects.
  • Support and work in tandem with team members on various small/large projects.
  • Read and understand design layouts and blueprints.
  • Keep the job site clean and well‑organized.
  • Handle the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards.
  • Fuel and wash department vehicles.
Requirements
  • Mechanically inclined with common hand tools (tape measure, etc.).
  • Basic math and geometry knowledge.
  • Rigger 1 certified and qualified.
  • Align equipment or machinery.
  • Stick (Arc) welding.
  • Forming & grouting machine bases.
  • Ability to work effectively with all personality types.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Self‑directed and can work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Requirements
  • Rigger 2 certified & qualified.
  • Chauffeur license & DOT Med card.
Equipment Experience
  • Aerial – Lift Operation – Boom Lift (Preferred).
  • Aerial – Lift Operation – Scissor Lift (Preferred).
  • Forklift Operation – Material handling up to 140,000# (Preferred).
  • Telehandler (Preferred).
  • Overhead crane certified & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO – Preferred).
  • Mobile crane certified & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO – Preferred).
  • Lock‑Out Tag‑Out (Preferred).
  • Transit (Preferred).
  • Theodolite (Preferred).
  • Shaft alignment equipment (Preferred).
  • Robotic total (Station).
  • Precision measuring equipment (ID/OD micrometers, calipers, dial indicators – Preferred).
  • Precision laser alignment equipment.
  • Trailer loading and securing of material.
Rigging Requirements
  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
  • Work in permit & non‑permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment. Utilize and understand the constraints of chains, synthetic, metal mesh, and wire rope slings.
  • Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines.
  • Identify common load configurations & positioning.
  • Rigger 1 training – trains on above.
