East Energy Renewables is seeking a Millwright to provide mechanical maintenance support for equipment in an electrical generating power plant. The candidate must have millwright experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of millwright experience in repair, inspection or maintenance of pumps, turbines, or engines.
  • 2 years in chemical, manufacturing, or power generating industries.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines.
  • Installs, maintains, tests, inspects, and repairs generating station equipment.
  • Replaces bearings and other components in pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
  • Work with apprentices and other maintenance personnel to ensure safe use of tools and procedures.

Job Summary

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellowworkersand the protection of the public.
  • Knowledgeableofenvironmentalrulesandregulations,andeffectivelyapplythem to all work situations.
  • Installs,maintainstests,inspects,andrepairsgeneratingstationequipmentsuch as boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
  • Replaces bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, seats, and other miscellaneous parts used in plant equipment.
  • Workswithapprenticemechanicsandskillenhancementemployeestoteach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures.
Working Conditions
  • Power Plant Environment-Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditionsin accordance withHeat Stress procedures. Around large rotating equipment,energized electricalequipment in highnoiseareas,and/or inconfined places,on elevationsin excess of150 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater. Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial devices.
  • Must be prepared to work irregular or rotating shifts and respond to emergency callout 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • Abilitytoworkinmentallystressfulenvironments:mustbeabletoreacttocrises where immediate action isrequiredto correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations.
  • Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials (referencethe waste management guidance manual).
  • Must beabletowearpersonalprotectiveequipment(PPE) asrequiredi.e.…steel- toed boots, respirators, goggles, safety glasses etc.

Minimum Requirements
  • Highschooldiplomaorequivalent.
  • 2 years of millwright experience in the repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of pumps, turbines, auxiliary equipment or enginesOR2 years machine shop (heavy industry) equipment experience including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting,fabricatingand diagnostics.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a chemical, manufacturing, or power generating industry.
  • ValidStateDriver’sLicense
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associatesdegreeorequivalentapprenticeship.
  • Stronginterpersonalskillswiththeabilitytoworkharmoniouslyinateam environment.
  • Strongcommunicationsskills–verbalandwritten.Abletopreparereportsat request of management asrequired.
  • Generalknowledgeofenvironmentalregulationsandcompliancerequirements.
  • BasiclevelComputerSkills:includingMSWord, Outlook,ExcelandPowerPoint.

  • Knowledgeofrotatingequipmentandgeneralindustrialmaintenanceactivitiesand procedures.
  • Abilitytooperateoxygenandacetylenetorches.
  • Ability tooperatemachine shop equipment (i.e.drill presses,lathesand boring mills).
  • Abilitytofollow,interpretandactonwrittenandverbaljobinstructions,andreports, technicalmanualsand data.

  • Ability to calculate measurements and computations used to repair andmaintainpower plant equipment.

  • Ability to Tag Out/Lock Out equipment per East Energy Tag Out/Lock Out procedure.
  • Ability to diagnose and correct mechanical equipment troubles and repairs or recommend major repairs.
  • Ability to perform preventativeandcorrectivemaintenanceprocedureson mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to perform plumbingandpipefittingtasks.
  • Ability to setupriggingforinstallingandremovingequipment.
  • Ability to orderpropermaterialsforjobcompletion.

  • Ability to cleanworkarearoutinely.
  • Ability to certify asa“code”welder with propertraining.
  • Abilitytousegasesand/orarcweldingequipmentformechanicalrepairand fabrication of plant equipment.
  • Ability to remove and replace insulating materials with proper training.
  • Assist Operations and other maintenance personnel (e.g.Electrical, I&C) in the performance of assigned duties

Physical Requirements
  • Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs.
  • Lift, carry, position and use tools and/or equipment (weighing up to 50 lbs.) in awkward positions, swing various weights of sledgehammers, stoop and bend to reach valves, pull on chain-falls or come-a-longs.
  • Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles or operating company equipment.
