Job summary

Alkegen is seeking a Millwright to ensure quality and production standards by following SOPs and performing mechanical maintenance across steam, air, oil systems and related equipment. The role requires interpreting prints, schematics, and manuals, with hands-on proficiency in fabrication, welding, and rigging.

Strong troubleshooting and safe operation are essential. Ideal candidates will have experience with boilers, power transmission, and training/mentoring maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of basic mathematics and reading/writing.
• Able to interpret mechanical prints, schematics and manuals.
• Superior knowledge in mechanical trouble shooting and installation practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair air, oil, steam and related control equipment.
• Understand oil-fired boilers and auxiliary equipment for steam production.
• Maintain and repair power transmission equipment common to the paper manufacturing industry.
• Fabricate, weld, braze and cut all common metals.
• Operate lift trucks and understand rigging and moving equipment.
• Instruct/direct and train assisting personnel and other maintenance staff.
• Perform responsibilities in a skilled and safe manner.

Job Requirements

The Millwright is responsible for the proper carrying out of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that quality and production standards are met. The Millwright’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Possess a working knowledge of basic mathematics and a competent level of reading and writing.

• Able to interpret mechanical prints, schematics and instruction manuals.

Superior knowledge in all phases of mechanical trouble shuting and installation practices.

• Have the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair air, oil, steam and stock systems and related control equipment.
• Understand the concepts of oil fired boilers and the auxiliary equipment used for producing steam.
• Capable of maintaining and repairing power transmission equipment common to the paper manufacturing industry.

Skills in fabricating, welding, brazing and cutting all common metals. Able to operate lift trucks and understand the fundamentals of rigging and moving equipment.
