How The Role Fits In

Receive and follow instructions and directions to install, repair, and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacture’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments. All work will be performed through a workorder system in a manner that is efficient, safe, and meets quality standards. Must be able to work in all areas of the plant and work with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities
SHE Stewardship
  • Maintain safety as the highest priority and abide by all INEOS safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and promote the INEOS “20 Principles of Safety”, assuring that personnel are aware of safe working practices and promote the safety concepts of “Coaching for Safety” and “Stop Work”.
  • Promote safety and safe actions through communication such as discussing safety with employees/contractors before job task, during meetings, and as opportunities arise to promote safety to the fullest extent possible.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulatory requirements and strive to meet internal SHE objectives.
  • Ensure completion of own and direct subordinate training requirements as outlined in the annual training schedule.
Work Duties
  • Assist in identifying and implementing cost reduction ideas to reduce plant expenditures.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, callipers, micrometres, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Analyze failure symptoms of rotating equipment and properly identify needed repair.
  • Utilize overhaul procedures to tear down, diagnose, and repair all types of rotating equipment or make ready for transport if necessary.
  • Capture, appropriately communicate and apply lessons learned and best practices to peers and supervision.
  • Supports continuous improvement of the plant reliability program.
  • Use of Windows application, e-mail, and SAP maintenance systems.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • May repair electrical equipment based on training and experience.
  • Perform routine/non-routine housekeeping jobs to keep work area clean and safe.
  • Research parts requirements for equipment.
  • Use welding and burning equipment.
  • Test run pumps, gearboxes, blowers, motors, and compressors.
  • Align motors and pumps.
  • Service plant vehicles, including ordering parts and general automotive repairs.
  • Run emergency generators and firewater pumps, maintaining records on site.
  • Assist Mechanical Engineer in coordinating non‑destructive testing throughout plant.
  • Perform preventive/predictive maintenance on plant equipment.
Education/Experience
Skills & Knowledge Required
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of mechanical journeyman millwright: in an industrial environment, and/or equivalent combination of training and experience. years’ experience as a journeyman millwright required; preferably in a petrochemical environment.
  • HS diploma or equivalent required
  • NCCER millwright certification required.
Skills/Competencies

In-depth knowledge of construction equipment and machinery

Must be able to work well in a team environment.

Vibration analysis: formally trained with data collection and detailed analysis of vibration signatures.

Lubrication: formally trained in proper lubrication methods, types, and applications

Refrigeration: formally trained in troubleshooting and repair of large-scale industrial refrigeration systems. Knowledge in refrigerant handling and recycling

Petrochemical plant experience

Machinist: formally trained in operating lathes and mills for parts repair or manufacture

Strong attention to detail with strong mathematical skills

Trouble shooting skills must be able to follow a problem to the source and solve.

Understand equipment rigging needed to lift and position equipment.

The use of the following software could be required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), Skype, Visio, Adobe (PDF), Share Point, SAP, Microsoft Project

Physical Requirements
