Job summary

Methuen Construction is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team in a full-time, hourly role on active construction sites. You will read blueprints, rig machinery, align baseplates, and install equipment on foundations, ensuring precise alignment and secure installation.

The position requires extensive knowledge of construction equipment, at least 5 years of relevant experience, and strict adherence to OSHA safety practices. Travel across New England may be required with company per diem.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and machinery
• Minimum of 5 years' experience within the construction industry
• Experience in wastewater and water treatment plants highly preferred
• High School or Vocational education required

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings for construction equipment and machinery
• Rigging, moving, and setting machinery and equipment on pads
• Setting and alignment of baseplates associated with machinery
• The alignment and coupling of machinery and motor shafts
• Adjustment and installation of vibration isolation
• Layout and setting of templates for equipment baseplates
• Rigging and setting of machinery, pumps, equipment, and process storage tanks
• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rulers, micrometers, plumb bobs
• Move machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers, and trucks
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
• Assemble machines and bolt or fasten them to foundations using hand and power tools

The Millwright plays a vital role in the assembly, installation, and maintenance of machinery and equipment. This position reports to the Foreman and is not responsible for the oversight of other teammates. This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position.

Your Role

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to construction equipment and machinery
• Rigging, moving, and setting machinery and equipment on pads
• Setting and alignment of baseplates associated with machinery

• Rigging and setting of machinery, pumps, equipment, and process storage tanks

• Assemble machines, and bolt, welt, rivet or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools

Your Education and Experience

• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and machinery
• High School or Vocational and or relevant work experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience within the construction industry
• Experience in wastewater and water treatment plants highly preferred

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles, on an active construction site
• Prepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
• Able to climb temporary or permanent stairs, and ladders
• Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, and stoop, reach on a regular basis
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Travel

Job posting location does not guarantee that the position will be in that location; Methuen Construction has jobs throughout New England, and travel may be required, with occasional out of state and overnight travel. Company per diem policy will apply.
