Job summary

Simmons Foods, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Utility Services team member to maintain a clean warehouse environment, remove trash and debris, and support safe, efficient operations in a poultry processing setting.

This role requires physical fitness, the ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures, and a forklift certification or the ability to obtain one. Preferred candidates will have poultry or food processing experience and be willing to pass forklift testing if required; veterans are

Responsibilities

• Remove empty ingredient bags and trash from warehouse; sweep and clean work areas daily.
• Keep yard, driveways and grounds neat; sweep scales and driveway approaches.
• Perform housekeeping to minimize dust, spider webs, and debris throughout shifts.
• Participate in Team activities and contribute to policy and procedure improvements.
• Familiarize with Simmons operating systems; understand impact of actions on systems.
• Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Job description

Essential Position Responsibilities

Removes empty ingredient bags and other trash from the warehouse. Sweeps warehouse floor, including areas between rows of pallets and equipment racks. Maintains and cleans work areas on and around the warehouse ramp. Maintains a clean work area around dumpsters, boneyard, removing buildup from the edges of the concrete. Take bin measurements daily or as needed.

Keeps the yard, driveways and grounds neat and orderly, including picking up trash, cutting weeds and filling tire ruts and holes. Sweeps and maintains the bin deck area, silo deck, distributor floors, and whirley-cleaner deck. Checks receiving scales for loose ingredients; sweep the scales and driveway approaches as necessary. Cleans the manlift, including the inside, top and area below the manlift on the first floor. Helps with housekeeping in other mill areas as needed.

Performs regular housekeeping tasks to minimize dust accumulation and spider webs from warehouse area, including equipment racks, walls and pallets, roof area, including baghouses, elevator legs and equipment, the bin deck area, including silo deck, cat-walks, distributor decks, and whirley-cleaner decks as needed throughout the shift.

Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities:

Must be able to work in temperature extremes and in an outdoor environment, on feet for the entire shift. Must be able to work in a dusty environment. Will also be climbing ladders throughout the shift.
