Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Texas seeks a Safety Specialist to drive health and safety across manufacturing areas, assess hazards, and implement risk-reducing practices. You will work with operations, management, and support groups to create a safe, compliant workplace.

Responsibilities include leading safety audits, developing corrective actions, coordinating emergency response, managing training programs, and overseeing the SDS system and contractor management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 5+ years SAFETY experience at a paper mill or related business.
• Thorough knowledge of safety standards and methodologies.
• Ability to work in extreme hot & cold temperatures and industrial environments.
• Experience with regulatory agencies and EH&S groups.

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous safety system improvements through employee engagement.
• Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in line with OSHA regulations.
• Inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify hazards.
• Lead safety audits and develop corrective action plans to resolve gaps.
• Coordinate industrial hygiene programs and manage the SDS system.
