Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan’s Climax Molybdenum operation in Leadville, Colorado, seeks a Mill Repair Employee to maintain and repair milling equipment, conveyors, screens and related systems in a safety‑conscious environment.

On‑site workers are eligible for a $1,450 monthly housing allowance; the role emphasizes teamwork, preventive maintenance, and adherence to procedures in a high-elevation setting above 10,000 feet.

Qualifications

• One year of mechanical/maintenance experience or equivalent education.
• Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
• Must meet internal progression requirements and pass a safety-focused written assessment.

Responsibilities

• Safely performs maintenance, installation, and repair of milling plant equipment (mills, conveyors, screens).
• Assist with component replacement on conveyors, ball mills, screen decks, lube systems, crushers.
• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance; check agitators, belts, gear boxes.
• May perform welding (Stick, TIG).
• Maintain work orders, clean work area, and perform safety inspections.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Safely performs maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment and processes in the Milling plant including mills, conveyors, screens and like systems.

• Assist with and perform component replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: conveyor systems, ball mills, auto mills, screen decks, lube systems, filter drums, crushers, hydraulic filter presses, and foundry pumps

• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance: identify potential failures/noises/wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys, gear boxes

• May perform welding (Stick, TIG)

• Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections

• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

• One (1) year of experience in mechanical/maintenanceora combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance

• Ability read and use schematics and blue prints

• Must have completed academic and competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees), and have experience demonstrating required mechanical aptitude. Selected candidate shall demonstrate ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $$26.00 - $33.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions.
