Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Colorado (Climax Molybdenum) is seeking a Mill Operator Trainee to support safe production, operate concentrator equipment, and learn basic metallurgical milling principles.

Applicants should have at least three months of work experience, strong English communication, and familiarity with milling, crushing and conveying equipment. On-site 24/7 operations with a housing allowance and benefits are provided.

What You Will Do

• Make guided decisions to support the primary objective of safe production.


• Maintain and operate concentrator equipment


• Perform detailed inspections of operating equipment and operational areas


• Assist with maintenance activities


• Complete area housekeeping duties

• Perform other tasks as assigned

What You Bring To Freeport

• Three (3) months work experience


• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.


• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards


• Knowledge of milling, crushing and conveying equipment. Including operating parameters, limits and functionality of equipment

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $22.00 - $29.50/hour.

This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
