Job summary

Foster Farms in Traver, California, is seeking a Mechanic Level B for the Traver Feedmill on the day shift. The role focuses on maintenance of mill equipment, electrical and mechanical systems, with hands-on welding and fabrication duties.

The successful candidate has 2–4 years of production equipment maintenance experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to train junior maintenance staff. Overtime and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of production equipment maintenance experience.
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to lead and train lower-level maintenance personnel.
• Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, and in pits and silos (confined spaces).
• Bend, kneel and walk frequently.
• Move heavy objects and lift 50 lbs.
• Familiar with mill flow patterns and lubrication techniques.
• Welding and fabrication abilities to repair and install equipment.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain required records, reporting in writing any uncorrected mechanical/electrical defects and replacement parts to the supervisor.
• Assist in performing all phases of maintenance, including electrical mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
• Coordinating equipment downtime, services, and problems with area operators.
• Detecting potential mechanical/electrical problems and planning for repairs.
• Be able to perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all mill equipment.
• Be able to weld and fabricate to repair all mill equipment, and installation of new equipment as needed.
• Be able to make decisions and judgments on an ongoing basis.
• Be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed and able to show up on time and as scheduled.
