Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize process control systems for the mill and filter plant. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and efficiency through strong automation and instrumentation expertise.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Electrical or Instrumentation Journeyman certification required.
3–7 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance in mining, milling, or heavy industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, and industrial power distribution.
Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and program control systems, including MCCs, VFDs, instruments, PID loops, sensors, I-to-P’s, digital or analog output devices and auto-valves.
Maintain and calibrate process instrumentation such as flow, pressure, level, temperature, and analytical devices.
Troubleshoot and support control systems including DCS, PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
Diagnose and resolve electrical and instrumentation failures to minimize equipment downtime.
Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks in alignment with maintenance plans.
Document work activities accurately in CMMS (JDE or similar).
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve system reliability and performance.
Identify opportunities for process improvements, reliability enhancements, and cost reductions.
