Position Summary

The Milieu Educator is a critical leadership role responsible for evaluating and enhancing the competence of our direct care staff. By working directly with new employees during classroom orientation and hands‑on shadowing, you ensure our learning objectives and clinical competencies are met with excellence. You will collaborate with management and clinical leadership to integrate evidence‑based research into daily practice, ensuring that our therapeutic environments adhere to the highest standards set by The Joint Commission and other regional licensing bodies.

  • Age: All employees must be at least 20 years of age.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required. A Bachelor’s degree in a human service field (social work, psychology, counseling, behavioral sciences), education, or workforce development is preferred.
  • Experience: At least five years of related experience in child learning and competency evaluation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance are required.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Experience
  • Experience training or managing direct support professionals in a mental health setting, juvenile justice, or educational field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide educational leadership to care providers to enhance patient care and therapeutic milieu management.

  • Collaborate with practitioners and clinical leadership to evaluate, refine, and implement practice competencies.
  • Initiate individualized staff development plans and provide specialized training to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Educate direct care staff in advanced milieu management techniques and trauma‑informed care strategies.
  • Lead in‑service training sessions and workshops that incorporate national standards and evidence‑based research.
  • Serve as an exemplary role model, personally demonstrating the professional behavior expected of all direct care staff.
  • Support and promote workplace safety and sound environmental practices within the facility.
  • Maintain an exhaustive knowledge of KVC and Camber policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
