Job summary

Summit BHC is seeking a Milieu Coordinator for the Bel Aire Recovery Center in Bel Aire, Kansas. The on-site role focuses on supervising milieu staff and ensuring a safe, supportive environment across shifts, under the direction of the charge nurse or supervisor.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma with 4+ years in behavioral health or an associate degree with 2+ years in the field, plus strong de-escalation and crisis intervention skills. CPR certification is required at hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years in behavioral health or Associate degree with 2+ years in behavioral health.
• 2+ years’ experience with the population preferred.
• Understands psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities of the population served.
• Exceptional knowledge of verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Monitors shift change activities to assign staff and adjust as needed.
• Facilitates and monitors client care and programming.
• Assists the Charge Nurse with assignments for BHAs, group coverage, charting, breaks, safety rounds and codes.
• Ensures wellbeing of clients and provides a positive, structured environment.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and participation in treatment.
• Facilitates admissions, discharges, and client transfers.
• Conducts person-centered planning with individuals to assess needs and develop plans.
• Ensures accurate and timely documentation of client information and progress.
• Trains and mentors direct care staff during shifts and audits records for regulatory compliance.
• Communicates with clients, families, guardians and supervisor as needed.

Ensures the wellbeing of clients and provides a positive, supportive and structured environment, under the direction of charge nurse or supervisor.**Roles and Responsibilities:****ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*** Monitors shift change activities to assign staff, review staffing for the units and adjusts as necessary.* Facilitates and monitors client care and programming.* Assists the Charge Nurse with assignments for BHAs, group coverage, charting, breaks, environmental and safety rounds and codes.* Ensures the wellbeing of clients and provide a positive, supportive and structured environment, under direction of charge nurse or supervisor.* Applies de-escalation techniques to help manage client’s emotions, behavior and participation in treatment.* Facilitates the individual admission and discharge processes, as well as client transfers.* Facilitates person-centered planning process with individuals to assess and develop plans based on their needs.* Ensures proper, accurate and timely documentation of client information and progress.* Trains and mentors direct care staff during the shift as necessary, or as assigned by supervisor.* Audits individual records to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
