Suwannee County Schools seeks a Migrant Paraprofessional for a district-wide, temporary position. Three openings for the 2026-2027 school year, with a salary range of $22,195 to $30,466 and district-defined compensation schedule.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and a Praxis Paraprofessional score of 457+ or an AA/AS/AAS with at least 60 college credits; CDA certification may be required and other licenses may apply.

Qualifications

  • Shall be duly qualified as a high school graduate and have attained a score of 457 or higher on the Praxis Paraprofessional Exam, or hold an AA; AS; AAS degree or a minimum of 60 college credit hours.
  • Possess Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate if required.
  • Or other appropriate certificates/licenses required by the District.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher in planning and implementing group and individual activities for students.
  • Follow therapists/health professionals' instructions to provide services to students.
  • Assist students with personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Transport students within the school setting.
  • Provide assistance with classroom tasks and clerical duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student data and records.
  • Provide behavior management support per IEP.
  • Prepare meals if required by dietary needs.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, cafeteria, field trips, and bus loading/unloading.
  • Model high ethical standards and follow attendance and work ethic requirements.

SALARY: $22,195-$30,466.00 (or per the 2026 - 2027 Salary Schedule)
REPLACES: 3 Positions Available for the 2026-2027 School Year
Qualifications:
(1) Shall be duly qualified as a high school graduate and haveattained a score of 457 or higher on the Praxis Paraprofessional Exam, or holdan AA;

JOB GOAL
To assist the teacher(s) in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning environment in which students with moderate, profound, and/or physical disabilities can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources.

SUPERVISES:
N/A

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning/Preparations
*(1) Assist teacher in planning and implementing group and individual activities for students.
*(2) Follow instructions of therapists and health professionals to provide services to students including positioning, feeding, tube-feeding, suctioning, catheterization, and communication, as required.
*(3) Assist students in maintenance of personal hygiene, such as grooming, toileting, and cleanliness, as required.
*(4) Transport students within the school setting, as required.
Administrative/Management
(5) Provide assistance with classroom tasks to individual students, both regular education and special education students.
(6) Adhere to specific emergency procedures designed for the classroom and prepare to assume assigned role.
(7) Practice prescribed infection control procedures.
(8) Maintain strict confidentiality of student data and records.
Intervention/Direct Services
(9) Provide assistance with student's behavior management plan as stated in student's IEP.
(10) Prepare student's lunches if required by special dietary, health, or physical needs.
(11) Assist in maintaining an attractive and orderly environment.
(12) Supervise students inside and outside, including, but not limited to, classroom activities, cafeteria, field trips, and bus loading and unloading.
Collaboration
(13) Assist in communications with parents as directed by teacher.
Systemic Function
(14) Appear before the Board as needed.
Professional Responsibilities
(15) Assist teacher with preparation of materials and equipment.
(16) Assist teacher with record-keeping, reporting, filing, and other clerical duties.
(17) Assist teacher with assessment of student progress.
(18) Administer medication to students in compliance with District policies.
(19) Provide appropriate modifications needed as specified on student's IEP.
(20) Accompany student to classroom, activities, and other areas, if assigned, to serve the student's unique educational and/or personal needs.
(21) Perform housekeeping duties as directed.
(22) Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
(23) Model and maintain high ethical standards.
(24) Follow attendance, punctuality, and other qualities of an appropriate work ethic.
(25) Shall assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
