Job summary

Amada America, Inc. is seeking a MIG Welder and Fabricator to weld thick steel plates, read blueprints, and meet design specs. You will operate an overhead crane and forklifts, and assist with paint prep tasks when required.

Ideal candidates will pass AWS D1.1: 2020 Welder Test, read metric measurements, and train others on welding tasks while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and adhering to shop policies.

Description

The MIG Welder and Fabricator will weld thick steel plates using pulse welding and fabricate steel parts to meet design specifications according to the blueprints. This position will also utilize the overhead crane along with the sit-down and stand-up forklift. Operation of the shot blast machine will sometimes be required for our paint prep process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Pass the AWS D1.1: 2020 Welder Test.
• Must know metric measurement
• Understand and perform weld machine setup.
• Understand and read blueprints.
• Perform all Essential Functions of a Heavy Plate Structural Welder
• Weld Press Brake side plates, lower beams and upper frames together to produce a frame that's ready for the painting process.
• Train other employees on the tasks of a "Welding Apprentice."
• Maintain tools, equipment and workspace.
• Keep Management informed of status, issues, etc.
• Must manage their standard times and available resources.
• Comply with all established workplace policies and procedures.
• Wear all required PPE at all times.
• Keep workstation clean and organized at times.
• Ability to not cause rework by making self-inflicted mistakes.
• Employees are to speak only English during an emergency and while performing job duties where there is potential for an emergency. The rule does not apply to casual conversations between employees when they are not performing a job duty.
• Non-field related positions require in-person work up to 5 days a week at the assigned facility.

PAY RANGE

• $22.00 to $30.00 per hour
• Weekend shift offers a $2.00 shift premium in addition to the base hourly rate

WORK SCHEDULE

• This position offers two schedule options: Monday through Thursday, 6:45 AM to 5:30 PM, or Monday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:45 AM.

SUBORDINATE STAFF:

• None

KNOWLEDGE:

• Experience working in a manufacturing and production is preferred.
• Experience driving a forklift and using measuring tools.
• ISO and SAP experience is a PLUS
• Previous Lead Person experience is a PLUS

SKILLS:

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Mathematical skills including tape measure down to the 1/32.
• Reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Ability to design custom reports as requested.

• No travel required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

PHYSICAL: Ability to successfully lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Constant standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching outward and above the head, climbing, gripping, pinching and hand-to-eye coordination are all required as daily functions for this role. Work is performed on cement flooring.
