Job summary

Oxy is seeking an experienced Midstream Financial Analyst to join the Midstream & Marketing group in Houston, TX. The role involves preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with a focus on Midstream & Marketing activities and interpreting large datasets to identify trends.

You will support monthly close activities, maintain balance sheet reconciliations, and develop enhanced management reporting tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related finance field.
• 3–5 years corporate accounting experience or 2–3 years public accounting experience.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Experience in midstream, marketing, energy, or commodity businesses.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
• Exposure to forecasting, budgeting, outlook, or planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports focusing on Midstream & Marketing activities.
• Interpret large datasets and identify trends in market data.
• Conduct variance analysis against outlook, budget and prior periods; communicate drivers to management using dashboards.
• Support monthly close: accruals, estimates, tie-outs per accrual accounting.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items with Accounting.
• Develop and enhance management reporting tools for deeper insights.
• Collaborate with other departments on financial data analysis.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests and special projects.
• Perform other duties as required.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Midstream Financial Analyst within our Midstream & Marketing group based in Houston, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statement and balance sheet analysis, with an emphasis on Midstream & Marketing activities
• Strong ability to interpret large datasets and identify trends in market data
• Conduct variance analysis compared to outlook, budget, and previous periods, and communicate key drivers to management using dashboards and visual summaries
• Support monthly close activities by handling accruals, estimates, and tie-outs, ensuring results accurately reflect operational activity in accordance with accrual accounting principles
• Maintain and review balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate reconciling items, and work with Accounting to resolve issues promptly
• Develop, maintain, and enhance management reporting tools, including automated reports and analytics, to improve efficiency and provide deeper insights
• Working closely with other departments in recording and analyzing financial data
• Assisting with internal and external audit requests, as well as other special projects
• Other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related Finance degree
• 3-5 years Corporate Accounting Experience or 2-3 years of experience in Public Accounting
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and meet short deadlines
• Prior experience in Midstream, Marketing, Energy, or Commodity-based businesses
• Self-motivated and strong work ethic
• Ability to analyze data and reach own conclusions

Desired Qualifications:

• Midstream& Marketing Oil and Gas experience/background a plus
• Experience with SQL, Python, or data visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI) a plus
• SAP & Microsoft Excel experience a plus
