Job summary

San Luis Obispo Classical Academy in California is seeking a Middle School Track and Field Coach for March through May. You will develop a safe, competitive program, mentor student-athletes, and collaborate with the Athletic Coordinator and Athletic Director to uphold league and CIF guidelines.

Candidates should have coaching experience at high school varsity level or college, CPR/First Aid certification, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reports to the Athletic Coordinator (AC) and Athletic Director (AD).
• Interacts with the AC and/or AD regarding student discipline issues.
• Interacts with other coaches, teachers, and school staff.
• Represents SLOCA within Coast Valley Prep League (CVPL).
• Recruits, manages, and mentors assistant coaches to ensure high quality programs.
• Is familiar with and adheres to all rules and regulations as set out by CVPL and NFHS for the sport being coached.
• Provide a solid development plan for team and players; set and manage improvement milestones.
• Perform services in a manner which complies with the SLO Classical Academy Professional Code of Conduct and CIF Code of Ethics.
• Intervene with misconduct issues (Code of Conduct-Athlete), and follow up with the AC and AD as required.
• Ensure proper supervision during practices and games to help protect students from injury.
• Promote a physically, emotionally, and socially, secure climate for students, assistant coaches, and visitors.

Position: Middle School Track and Field Coach

Purpose of the Position/Job Summary

As a vital part of the SLO Classical Academy team, a middle school coach is responsible for helping to develop and maintain the designated athletics program in line with SLOCA’s athletic mission statement. He or she must ensure that the team maintains safety standards in relation to staff, students, and spectators.

Employee Status and Job Structure

This is a seasonal position with coaching taking place from March - May.

Physical Demands

Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Able to stand for an extended period of time regularly and participate in athletic activities as needed.
