Job summary

Prestonwood Christian Academy is seeking an Adjunct Coach at the Plano campus. The role is seasonal and exempts stipend-based, working under the Athletic Coordinator, Athletic Director and Divisional Principal.

The coach will instruct athletes in fundamentals, foster discipline, and promote Christ-centered leadership within the program. The candidate should have coaching experience, strong communication, and a solid personal Christian witness consistent with PCA beliefs.

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a sports program.
• Preferred previous coaching experience.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills.
• Strong Christian testimony and church membership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve team success.
• Maintain discipline and morale within the athletic program and community.
• Supervise practices, games, and team trips.
• Oversee the program budget and purchasing; coordinate with the athletic director on scheduling.
• Update knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and pursue continuous learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success.
• Provide instruction that fosters moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self‑discipline, leadership, and self‑confidence.
• Maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and community.
• Supervise practices, games, and team trips.
• Update knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and pursue continuous learning and new ideas.
• Oversee the program budget and purchasing.
• Maintain inventory of uniform and equipment issues.
• Co‑operate with the athletic director on scheduling.
• Establish lettering criteria for varsity teams.
• Implement and enforce policies with parents and players regarding issues or concerns.
• Provide frequent updates to the athletic director during the season about any issues, concerns, or highlights.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Work in a highly stressful environment with diverse challenges, deadlines, and contacts.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Perform tasks requiring heavy physical effort: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects weighing 20 to 50 pounds.
