Qualifications

• Active New Hampshire K–8 Teacher Certification is REQUIRED.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Preferred: background in Education (English, Math, Science, etc.).
• Experience with youth, especially those with emotional or behavioral needs, preferred.
• Experience with children or adolescents in any setting (school, coaching, childcare, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, project-based instruction aligned with IEP goals and core curriculum.
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student needs.
• Track and report student progress, grades, and IEP outcomes.
• Collaborate with academic and clinical staff to support student success.
• Implement classroom management and behavioral strategies as needed.
• Supervise and guide Teaching Assistants.
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and curriculum development.
• Maintain documentation including lesson plans, reports, and assessments.

Ashuelot Valley Academy is a 220-day, non-public special education school serving students in grades 5–12. Our trauma-informed, relationship-driven approach empowers students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Position Overview

As a Middle School Classroom Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting both the academic progress and overall well‑being of your students. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment.
