Job summary

Young World Physical Education is seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter for Middle School to provide communication support to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students. The role involves interpreting in various settings and facilitating access to instruction and activities.

The ideal candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED, meet NDE Rule 51 criteria, and possess effective communication skills. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must meet NDE Rule 51 criteria for sign language interpreters.
• Driver’s license required; First Aid/CPR certification desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and support services to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, peers, and families.
• Plan interpreting with educators and interpret extracurricular activities.

Skills

Effective oral and written communication skills

Understanding of basic reading and math skills

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Bachelor’s degree and/or completion of an interpreter preparation program

Tools

First Aid/CPR certification
