Job summary

The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking a Program Director 1 - Middle School Operations in Cordova, TN to oversee day-to-day middle school programming, supervise staff, and drive quality experiences aligned with the Y's mission. You will collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners, support curriculum implementation, and assist with marketing, enrollment, and grant reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in teen programming, afterschool programs, or similar settings.
• Experience supervising or leading teams is preferred but not required.
• Ability to meet DHS licensing requirements (training upon hire).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Ability to travel between sites and work flexible hours (evenings/weekends).
• Basic understanding of financial and operational management practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day implementation of Middle School programs, ensuring safe, engaging, and mission-aligned experiences for youth.
• Supervise and coach full-time & part-time staff to deliver high-quality programming and maintain a strong culture of youth engagement and development.
• Support hiring and training of site staff.
• Collaborate with school staff, community partners, parents, and volunteers to align programming with safety and inclusion goals.
• Regularly visit program sites to provide developmental feedback and ensure quality and compliance.
• Ensure curriculum implementation and high-quality programming for students and families.
• Assist with marketing and enrollment efforts to drive participation.
• Maintain relationships with school leadership and community partners.
• Support operational tasks including attendance tracking, supplies, and basic financials.
• Grant management & reporting: monitor deliverables and help prepare funder reports; align programs with philanthropic goals.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to identify growth opportunities and program excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
