KIPP NYC is seeking a Math Teacher for our Middle School in New York City. The role focuses on delivering a rigorous college preparatory math curriculum aligned with NYS standards, while fostering student growth and a positive school culture.

Ideal candidates have NYS teaching certification and at least two years of teaching experience, with a clear commitment to teamwork and ongoing professional development within the KIPP NYC network.

Position Overview:

KIPP NYC is looking for teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, to develop academic as well as character skills, and to make a college preparatory education relevant both now and for the future.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Teaching a rigorous college preparatory curriculum that combines the school’s standards and the New York State standards
• Teaching students in a high-quality, exciting way
• Committing to constant professional and personal growth through working closely as part of a team of teachers
• Constantlyassessing student progress and communicating results to families and colleagues
• Providingindividual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance
• ModelingKIPP NYC’s character strengths in all interactions and communications with students, families, and staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and a healthy measure of the character traits we value: zest, grit, hope, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.
• At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred
• New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area
• A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
• A strong desire to become a better teacher by joining the KIPP NYC team
• Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within our KIPP NYC communities

Compensation and Benefits:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829 - $136,704. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate’s years of experience, certification, and longevity at the point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale.
