Job summary

Mendham Country Day School in New Jersey is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic middle school mathematics teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-27 school year. Our independent, small-class environment focuses on individualized instruction, mastery-based progression, and challenging students according to ability.

The ideal candidate will teach Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus, differentiate instruction, communicate with families, collaborate with colleagues, and uphold our Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • New Jersey Teacher of Mathematics certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching middle school and/or high school mathematics, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus.
  • Excellent organizational, classroom management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach middle school mathematics courses ranging from Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus, depending on enrollment and student placement.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons that foster conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students, including those working above grade level.
  • Assess student progress and provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families.
  • Maintain a well-organized, positive, and academically challenging classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and vertically aligned mathematics program.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and academic goals.
  • Participate fully in faculty meetings, school events, and the life of the school community.
